March 1, 2021
White, Graham, Buckley & Carr is pleased to announce partner Debbie Blakely has joined the board of directors for a local nonprofit, the HorsePower Experiential Learning Program, the longest-running therapeutic and mental health equine program in the Kansas City area.
As Vice-Chair of the board of directors, Blakely will serve as a mentor, working one-on-one with students in the program. She will also assist in growing the program in the community.
HorsePower offers relational experiences to at-risk youth by developing life coping skills in an equine-facilitated ranch environment. Therapeutic horsemanship addresses youth emotional issues, including PTSD, oppositional defiant disorder, reactive attachment disorder, ADD, ADHD and mood disorders. Students experience, learn and practice skills – including socialization, trust, relationship building, reliability, effective communications, boundary setting, empathy, problem-solving, respect, impulse control, and coping – that they can use in their homes, schools and communities.
